Dubbed “Kings of the Rock Concert” by the Asian media and “The Chinese Beatles” by The Washington Post
Unquestionably one of the Asia’s most popular and influential rock groups, their place in Asian music history has already been established. Mayday may hail from the small tropical island of Taiwan, but their fans stretch across Asia, North America, Europe, Australia and elsewhere.
The band consists of five members – Ashin, Lead Vocal; Ming, Durm; Moster, Guitar; Masa, Bass and Stone, Guitar.
In the 20 years since their first public performance, Mayday has released more than eight studio albums. Known for their peptic and heartfelt lyrics about love. Mayday’s music has been the soundtrack of this generation.
Recognition hasn’t just come in the form of monster sales and arena tour; to date the band has won over 150 different industry and fan awards, including at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan and Best Buzz Asia by the Melody Awards (the Chinese Grammy’s).
In 2012, Mayday received six awards at the Golden Melody Awards. These awards included Best Band, Best Mandarin Album, Best Musical Arranger, Best Composer, Best Producer and Song of the Year.
Mayday has always pushed the limits in their live performances, and they have never ceased to challenge themselves. Their now legendary Touching the Sky concert in 2005 took place an altitude of nearly 390.6 metre atop the, then world’s tallest building, Taipei 101.
They have performed over 200 concerts to more than 10 million fans across the world. Both nights of their Beijing Bird’s Nest leg of their tour in 2012 sold out in one day – over 200,000 tickets.
Dreams of playing in the Nippon Budokan was finally realized and a two-day concert was held, which was a great success and became a historic concert in the history of the band. Mayday is determined to challenge themselves, and back to the Nippon Budokan again in February 2017.
NOWHERE World Tour is Mayday’s premier flagship world tour, bringing 82 concerts in 50 different cities across the globe.
In 2017, Mayday LIFE World Tour commenced and have been playing arena-sized shows in top cities all over the world. They will celebrate the 20 years that Mayday has devoted to their musical career in their 2018 tour to Australia.
